Season burger patties on each side with 1/4 teaspoon of season salt per side
Heat olive oil in skillet over medium high heat until oil begins to ripple, and spread on pan
Add burger patties to skillet once oil is hot, to ensure a crispy sear
Cook for 6-7 minutes on the first side before flipping. Cook the second side an additional three minutes
Turn off the heat and add one slice of cheese to each burger patty. Cover with lid, or tent with foil and let burgers rest for a few minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly on top. Resting the burger is KEY
Serve with burger sauce, and optional toppings
For the Sauce
While burger is cooking, mix together all sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
Notes
*I buy the pre-shaped 1/3 lb burger patties at my grocery store (see blog post for more info). Feel free to use 1 lb ground beef and separate into your choice of three 1/3 lb patties or four 1/4 lb patties.
